Planning surgery overseas involves more than choosing a procedure. You also need to understand who will perform your surgery, where it will take place, how long you should stay and what support you will have during recovery.

At R&R Beauty Aesthetic, we help coordinate your surgery journey in Ho Chi Minh City, from your first enquiry through to your aftercare. Here is what to expect at each stage.

1. Tell us what you would like to achieve

Your journey begins with a conversation about the changes you are considering. Whether you are interested in liposuction, breast surgery, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty or a facelift, it helps to tell us what concerns you and what outcome you are hoping for.

Our team may request photographs, information about previous procedures and relevant medical history to help arrange an initial assessment. Please also share any medical conditions, medications and smoking or vaping habits.

This initial discussion helps us understand your needs. It does not replace a consultation with the surgeon or confirm that you are medically suitable for surgery.

2. Understand your proposed procedure and quotation

Based on the information and photographs you share, our consultants will propose suitable procedure options and provide a quotation. The treatment plan will be confirmed during your in-person surgeon consultation before surgery. If any changes are recommended, we will explain the revised plan and any price adjustments before you decide whether to proceed.

R&R works with a panel of experienced plastic surgeons. The appropriate surgeon and treatment plan will depend on your procedure, individual needs and availability.

Our quotations include the standard items specified in your surgery package, with no hidden charges for those inclusions. Depending on the package, these include transport for medical appointments, hospital accommodation, medication, compression garments and aftercare sessions. For surgery packages under USD 2,000, airport transfers are not included, and complimentary transport is limited to one transfer from the operating facility to your hotel after surgery.

Non-standard medical services—such as additional specialist consultations or diagnostic tests required because of pre-existing medical conditions, and treatment for complications—are charged separately.

If you are considering several procedures, let us know at this stage. Our medical team will assess whether they can be performed together or should be planned separately.

3. Plan your dates and secure your booking

Once you are ready to proceed, our team will check availability for your proposed dates. A 20% deposit is required to secure your booking, including the surgeon and operating theatre arrangements. Until your booking is confirmed, availability may change.

Your deposit is valid for 12 months, while the quoted price is secured for 6 months. You may reschedule once without charge by giving at least 7 days’ notice. Your deposit can also be transferred to a family member or friend. The deposit is non-refundable unless the operating practitioner determines that you are medically ineligible for the planned surgery. In that case, associated costs will be deducted, and any remaining balance will be refunded. Please see the medical ineligibility FAQ below for details.

We recommend coordinating your proposed itinerary with us before finalising flights and accommodation. Your stay needs to allow time for assessment, surgery and the planned aftercare appointments.

If you prefer to visit before committing, you are welcome to arrange a visit to our clinic and speak with one of our consultants. We do not offer walk-in surgeon consultations. Surgeons are scheduled specifically for patients with confirmed surgery bookings.

4. Complete your consultation and preoperative assessment

On the day of your procedure, you will meet your surgeon at the operating facility to discuss your goals, the proposed technique, expected recovery, risks and limitations, and confirm the treatment plan. This is your opportunity to ask questions before proceeding.

Your preoperative medical checks may take place on the same day or beforehand, depending on your schedule. These may include blood tests and other investigations required by the medical team for your procedure.

Final approval to proceed rests with the treating medical team. If the assessment identifies a concern, surgery may need to be postponed, adjusted or declined.

5. Know where your surgery will take place

R&R Beauty Aesthetic coordinates your surgery journey, including planning, booking and aftercare arrangements. R&R Beauty Clinic is our licensed aesthetic clinic in Ho Chi Minh City, where eligible minor procedures can be performed within its approved scope of practice.

Certain procedures, such as eyelid surgery and selected rhinoplasty cases, may be performed at our clinic under local anaesthesia or sedation, subject to the medical team’s assessment. Procedures requiring general anaesthesia, including major body surgery and breast implant surgery, are performed at our partner hospitals.

Our team will confirm the operating facility and planned anaesthesia arrangements with you before surgery.

6. Attend your aftercare appointments

After surgery, you will receive instructions on wound care, medication, activity and follow-up. Standard aftercare generally consists of two sessions, although some minor procedures may not require any. Additional reviews or care may be needed depending on your recovery and any concerns that arise.

Please prioritise your scheduled aftercare appointments when planning your stay. Arrange sightseeing, shopping and other activities around these appointments, as they are an important part of monitoring your recovery.

Services beyond your package inclusions may carry additional charges. Our team will explain any applicable costs.

Our team will coordinate your appointments and help communicate concerns to the medical team. If something worries you during recovery, contact us promptly rather than waiting until your next scheduled visit.

7. Prepare for returning home and continued recovery

We generally recommend staying in Ho Chi Minh City for at least 5–6 days after surgery for initial recovery and aftercare. Your recommended stay may be longer depending on your procedure and recovery progress.

Initial recovery and stitch removal have different timelines. If you would like our team to remove your stitches, you may need to stay longer. Please check with us before finalising your departure date.

Before you leave, our team will explain your ongoing care instructions and any remaining follow-up needs. You can continue to contact us for remote follow-up and advice after returning home.

R&R provides in-person aftercare in Ho Chi Minh City only. Any care needed in your home country—including stitch removal, further medical assessments or treatment for complications—must be arranged with a local provider at your own expense. R&R does not arrange or supervise that care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I review my surgeon’s qualifications before surgery?

Before booking, our consultants can provide an R&R-prepared biography outlining the proposed surgeon’s qualifications and relevant experience.

After your deposit has been received and your surgeon assignment is confirmed, further surgeon details and redacted copies of qualification and licensing documents can be provided upon request.

Unredacted documents are available for viewing in person only. We do not send unredacted copies electronically, to protect personal and sensitive information and reduce the risk of fraud or impersonation.

What happens if I am medically ineligible for surgery?

If the operating practitioner determines that you are medically ineligible for the planned surgery, we will not proceed. The following associated costs will be deducted from your deposit:

  • Surgeon consultation and medical assessment: USD 150

  • One-way airport transfer: USD 30, if applicable

  • Patient support, coordination and case management: USD 150

  • Preoperative medical checks, anaesthesia assessment and specialist consultations: As charged. We will advise you of the amount.

We will provide a breakdown of the deductions. Any remaining deposit balance will be refunded.

When will my stitches be removed?

Stitches are commonly removed around 10–12 days after surgery. For some procedures, such as liposuction keyhole incisions and eyelid surgery, they may be removed around day 7. Some procedures use dissolvable stitches that do not require removal.

The timing depends on your procedure and wound healing. Please check with our team before finalising your departure date if you would like your stitches removed in Ho Chi Minh City.

What is the difference between surgery at R&R Beauty Clinic and an internationally accredited hospital?

Certain procedures can be performed at either R&R Beauty Clinic or one of our internationally accredited partner hospitals. The surgeon remains the same whichever location you choose, as our panel surgeons perform eligible procedures at both facilities.

The main differences are the cost and the medical facilities available. Surgery at our clinic generally costs less because facility charges are lower. However, a hospital offers more extensive equipment and specialist support to handle unexpected situations. Preoperative checks are typically more comprehensive at the hospital.

For older patients or those with pre-existing medical conditions, we generally recommend the hospital option for the additional medical support available. Our medical team will advise based on your individual assessment. Procedures requiring general anaesthesia are always performed at our partner hospitals.

Where should I stay in Ho Chi Minh City?

Districts 1 and 3 are popular choices for visitors, offering a wide range of hotels in the city centre and convenient access to restaurants, shopping and tourist attractions.

Thao Dien in District 2 is another good option, especially if you prefer to stay closer to R&R Beauty Clinic for follow-up appointments and aftercare. It is a charming neighbourhood popular with expats, with plenty of cafés, restaurants and accommodation options.

Whichever area you choose, we recommend an established hotel or professionally managed serviced apartment with reception staff, lift access and easy vehicle pickup and drop-off. Private rentals can have complicated entry arrangements and limited on-site support, making them less convenient during recovery.
