At R&R Beauty Aesthetic, patient safety and satisfaction are our top priorities. While we work exclusively with highly experienced surgeons and accredited hospitals to minimize risk, it's important to understand that all surgeries carry some possibility of complications. Recognizing and addressing these issues early is key to a smooth recovery and great results.
Common Post-Surgery Discomforts & Complications
Most patients recover well with proper care, but it’s important to be aware of potential post-surgical discomforts and complications such as:
Pain, Swelling, and Bruising: These are normal responses after surgery and usually peak within the first 3–5 days. They gradually subside over a few weeks.
Infection: Signs may include redness, warmth, pus, or a fever. Prompt medical attention is essential to prevent further complications.
Nauseousness or Dizziness: These are common side effects of anesthesia and should dissipate in 48-72 hours. Medication can help to ease these symptoms.
Constipation: Often due to anesthesia, pain medication, reduced activity, and dietary changes. To alleviate it, increase fluid intake, add fiber to your diet, and gradually increase activity as tolerated. Stool softener may also be given.
Hematoma or Seroma: Fluid or blood accumulation under the skin may require drainage.
Delayed Wound Healing: Smoking, poor nutrition, or certain medical conditions can slow down recovery.
Scarring and Asymmetry: While every effort is made to ensure a smooth, symmetrical result, minor touch-ups may occasionally be needed.
Our Approach to Managing Complications
We take a hands-on, proactive approach to managing post-surgical care for all our international patients:
1. Thorough Pre-Surgery Evaluation
All patients undergo careful pre-operative screening to identify risk factors and reduce the likelihood of complications. This includes reviewing your health and physical condition, medical history, and lifestyle habits.
2. Personalized Aftercare Support
Our comprehensive aftercare program is designed to optimize healing and flag issues early. It includes:
Private nurse care (24/7) during your hospital stay, to monitor vitals, support mobility, and assist with hygiene.
Private nurse care in hotel (case-by-case basis)
Hotel visits by our dedicated private nurse to clean wounds, change dressings, and report progress to the surgeon.
Recovery and follow-up treatments at our aesthetic clinic, such as LED light therapy or lymphatic drainage, depending on the procedure done.
Follow-up review with our panel surgeons before you fly home, to ensure you're healing well and fit to travel.
Our dedicated nurse carefully cleans a patient's wound in preparation for her upcoming LED light therapy session at our aesthetic clinic.
3. Support for Discomforts & Complications
If a complication such as infection, fever, or delayed healing occurs during a patient's stay in Vietnam, we will assist in coordinating timely evaluation and care. While our team remains available to guide and support, the cost of treating complications not directly caused by the surgeon — including hospitalisation, lab tests, or medications — will typically be borne by the patient. This includes complications linked to hygiene, travel, or individual healing responses.
After returning home, patients are responsible for their own aftercare. We will gladly review post-op photos and provide advice remotely whenever possible. If more serious concerns arise, we strongly recommend consulting a local doctor or, if needed, returning to Vietnam for follow-up. While we continue to provide guidance and support, we are not liable for the management of complications that occur outside Vietnam.
4. Corrective Surgery, If Needed
If a surgical outcome requires revision due to a verified surgical issue, and the patient has strictly followed all post-op care instructions, we help arrange corrective treatment in Vietnam with the original surgeon or another qualified panel doctor. The cost of the revision surgery is covered under our Vietnam-only warranty, but personal expenses such as flights, hotel extensions, or overseas care remain the patient’s responsibility.
Patients Play A Crucial Role In Managing Complication Risks & Ensuring a Smooth Recovery
Your cooperation in the healing process is vital. Patients should:
Follow post-op instructions closely
Attend all scheduled nurse visits and reviews
Avoid high-risk activities (e.g., smoking, drinking, early flying)
Report abnormal symptoms promptly
